From Ownership to Career Counseling
Anna joined HARMAN Poland two years ago, and what she values most about her experience is the freedom to work with autonomy, knowing she can always rely on her team for support. "I appreciate that I can work independently, am trusted with the given tasks, and can decide how to organize my daily work activities. This gives me a sense of ownership," she says.
Anna took her ownership to a new level with her recent initiative. In response to the challenges in the local IT market, particularly for young professionals beginning their careers and people seeking to transition into the industry, Anna decided to leverage her knowledge in recruitment, talent acquisition, coaching, and psychology to create a counseling program for this specific group.
Empowering the Next Generation
Anna's commitment to empowering students and other professionals in Poland is supported by esteemed local institutions, such as the Technical University of Lodz and the City Hall of Lodz, through the 'Young in Lodz' program. She aims to provide practical advice on resume building, interview preparation, and essential skill development for young professionals, students, and those wanting to enter the tech world.

1. Don't Play it Safe: Apply for your desired job without hesitation. There is a popular saying that the key to passing any exam as a student is to show up. The same principle applies when it comes to job opportunities. Did you know that 84% of employers are willing to consider candidates who may not have all the required experience?
So, if you are interested in any of our open positions, submit your application!
2. Develop Transferable Skills: Ace your interview & everyday work life.
Focus on enhancing your communication, leadership, problem-solving, time management, and adaptability skills. While these are commonly known as 'soft skills,' these are invaluable across various industries and roles when interviewing. But more than that, these will help you achieve success in your day-to-day work, too. Who doesn't like to work with a great communicator? We know we do!
3. Stay Informed: Industry knowledge = top candidate status.
Keeping up with the latest trends in your industry can be challenging, but you can make it easier by figuring out your preferred learning style. If you like reading, you can count on articles, reports, and books about the latest industry developments. Not a ready? No worries. There are tons of podcasts, webinars, tutorials, conferences, and other excellent sources of information. It becomes fun when you adapt how you consume information to your preferred learning style.
4. Embrace Lifelong Learning: Stay curious.
Most companies have internal training programs and certifications to continuously improve your skills. Take advantage of those! If you talk in your interview about how you took advantage of learning opportunities, that is a clear message that will fit right into our team. Not only do we dedicate two days per year to planning our career growth, but our Learning and Development team always ensures people in the company are constantly growing their knowledge and skillset.
5. Value Authenticity and Transparency: These qualities are crucial in the recruitment process.
Prioritize openness and integrity in the recruitment process. Ask questions and talk about your values! At HARMAN, we are advocates for bringing you a whole authentic self to work. Moreover, interviewing is a two-way street. By being honest and interested in the company culture that aligns with your values, you ensure you will end up in an environment that makes you enjoy your work.
